At long last, the labor of love in restoring the pedestal clock at Main and Pine in Lockport is coming to fruition. The clock should be installed mid week (Week of December 8th). Heads up! The dedication is Saturday, December 21st, at 11 AM. You are welcome to attend...not sure how many people will fit in that area. It's only about 1/2 hour of comments and placement of the the time capsule. If the weather is too adverse, most of the presentation will be inside. Happy holidays! |

Cornerstone Ice Arena - The Penalty Box
Dec. 31, 2019 12:00 p.m.
Two weeks without Rotary? Why not gather for unstructured social time (order lunch/drinks off the menu). Stay as long or as short a time as you choose. The manager says he can give us our own area. I have a hard time scheduling coffee with you. I'm not all that thin-skinned and would welcome a candid visit about how Rotary is meeting your reasons for being a Rotarian and how you see yourself contributing to Rotary. President will be there for 1 or 2 or 20. It'd be nice to E-mail him if you're coming just to be sure there's proper space. |

Four volunteers will prepare a meal for about 10 people and deliver it to Lockport Cares, 188 Genesee Street. The meal should be similar to what you would cook for your family, including a main dish, vegetable or salad, fruit or bread, and a dessert. The lead volunteer should let the other volunteers know what they will prepare in order to plan the meal. The lead should call Lockport Cares @ 716-280-3444 between 7-9am or 4-7pm the day before delivery to find out the exact number of meals needed. On delivery Tuesday, vounteers should bring their portion of the meal to the Rotary lunch meeting, and the Lead Volunteer will deliver everything to Lockport Cares between 4:30 - 5:00PM Please bring your food in disposable containers or transfer into shelter containers when you deliver. Thank you to all the volunteers! |

Policing the Erie Canal
Mar. 24, 2020 12:00 p.m.
This presentation (Policing the Erie Canal) is old school story telling. Topics includes policing during the canal era, canal districts, canal laws, the Sabbatarian movement, the Underground railroad relationship with the canal, and the canal boy's saga (Attached American Jails Mag. Jan/Feb. 2001). I have a reproduction 1890s era Syracuse police uniform with some original equipment (it could be worn or displayed) to accent the subject. |

Help your club safely do some community service - even during the current health crisis. As Maria Biano says: "bend and stretch!" Yeah, it's early but then you still have some Saturday left and that's what naps are for. You might want to bring your own gloves although the used ones we have are pre-Corona - 19 virus. To use a cliche' - Many hands make light work. If we can get 10 Rotarians out, we can socialize with a little more separation than usual. Register today! |

The Transformative Power of Education: using an asset based approach in Makhanda, South Africa
May 19, 2020 8:00 a.m.
The brief interactive presentation will explore the beginnings of Inkululeko and how a team of seemingly dissimilar people scattered around the planet came together around the idea that education can be transformative. This small but growing NGO has embraced an "asset based approach" to its work and we feel it's made all the difference. |
