Members of the EarlyAct Club at DeSales Catholic School are learning you are never to young to serve.

4th and 5th grade students at DeSales Catholic School in Lockport are learning that community service can also be fun. The 19 members of the Club have completed multiple projects together with some help from club mentors and DeSales teachers Jessica Scirto and Jill Vos, with support from Rotary Advisor Maria Biano. The youngsters eagerly collected coins for Rotary International’s PolioPlus campaign to rid the world of polio. EarlyAct members and their families baked dozens of cookies for Rotary's annual turkey dinner served at the Salvation Army in December. And the students created beautiful hand made holiday cards given to local nursing home residents.
Rotary sponsored EarlyAct Clubs like the one at DeSales provide students the opportunity for gaining an increased awareness and knowledge of their community and the world. At a young age, all students can easily be encouraged to be caring and helpful. Their minds are open to recognize the dignity and worth of each individual which builds respect for others. EarlyAct also engages students in character-building activities and prepares them for leadership roles to identify and carry out projects which benefit their school, local and global communities.
