Step one in taking down a street clock: place straps around the top. Using chains, secure straps to a hook (or something) behind the scoop of the big truck. Using torch, cut base of post armature away from concrete.
Step two in removing clock: after lifting, lower gently to the street. Again, using torch, remove the upright armature from the top, pulling gently.
And step 3: Gently lower the top part onto the waiting trailer. Ever so carefully, gradually lay it on its side in the trailer. Secure it with straps and take it to the workshop.
Bye-bye, old girl. See you in 9-12 months, all shiny and new.
